Playground Surface One: Rubber

1/9

The playground has two surface types, rubber and manufactured wood chips.  The foundation of the rubber surface, gravel and cement, were installed on October 16.  A backhoe brought gravel from a container sitting on Grant Street to the worksite. There it was pressed into the ground between a bright green outline of the rubber surface.

The cement was processed in a cement mixer parked on the south Greenway sidewalk. A Mud Buggy transported the cement to the playground floor where it was smoothed into the path form.  Aerial view and image 5 courtesy of Albrecht Company.

The second layer, tar, was laid on October 18. This substance was prepared onsite and wheelbarrowed to cement path where it was carefully spread over its form.

The top layer, rubber, was installed on October 19.
